Buffkin/Baker appoints clinical director
September 6, 2022 – Executive search firm Buffkin/Baker has appointed David Ballard as clinical director in its healthcare practice. “David is a welcome addition to the Buffkin/Baker team,” said Craig Buffkin, Managing Partner. “His extensive experience in the healthcare field provides us with a solid foundation to provide quality service to our clients seeking the best doctors, nurses and healthcare executives today.”

As a global healthcare leader, Dr. Ballard brings proven expertise in improving the value of healthcare and organizational financial performance, while providing international thought leadership. He has been recognized by Becker for four consecutive years as one of the top 50 experts in the field of patient safety, is past president of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, and has received distinguished alumni awards. from the University of North Carolina medical schools. and Public Health in 2008 and 2019.
Dr. Ballard previously served as Director of Quality at Baylor Scott & White Health, where the organization received both the Leapfrog Patient-Centered Care Award and the National Quality Forum Health Care Award under his leadership. Additionally, he has held leadership positions at Emory University, the University of Virginia, and the Mayo Clinic, and earned five honors degrees in economics, public health, epidemiology, medicine, and business at the University. of North Carolina, where he was John Motley. Morehead Scholar. He is a board-certified internist, having completed residency training in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Ballard continues to serve as Health Policy Section Editor for Mayo Clinic Proceedings and Associate Editor for Mayo Clinic Proceedings: Innovations, Quality, and Outcomes. He also sits on the board of directors of several global healthcare companies, including as a director and member of the audit committee of Mentice, the world leader in endovascular simulation solutions. Dr. Ballard holds several leadership positions at the University of North Carolina, where he is an Adjunct Professor of Health Policy and Management, a member of the UNC Chancellor’s Global Leadership Council, and a member of the Center’s Advisory Board. on UNC Health Leadership.
