HOUSTEX speakers to provide small and medium-sized manufacturers with ‘smart’ knowledge for success | State
SOUTHFIELD, Michigan., September 8, 2021 / PRNewswire / – At HOUSTEX, a manufacturing technology series event, small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) will hear seasoned industry experts discuss the daunting challenges of labor shortages, irregularities in supply chain, inflation and income generation in the coming years of transformation. The event, which will take place October 5-7 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, is part of a series of four manufacturing technology events sponsored by SME and AMT.
The solution being prescribed by experts will be the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies, which have been around for over a decade, but which have been deployed primarily in large enterprises due to their complexity and cost. SMEs sorely need it to capitalize on the productivity, responsiveness and resilience offered by digital transformation.
“Some of the most insightful and innovative leaders in manufacturing will share their knowledge at HOUSTEX with local and regional manufacturers,†said Robert willig, Managing Director and CEO of PME. “SMMs are responsible for the majority of industrial production in America, and it is important that all links in the value chain are ready to embrace digital transformation to meet common challenges.”
Willig said large manufacturers have a financial interest in making sure their own supply chain, which is mostly made up of small manufacturers, embraces smart manufacturing technologies. Large enterprises should provide assistance and support in the deployment of low cost and high efficiency digital solutions at all levels of SSMs at local and regional level.
But like the majority of manufacturers of United States are categorized as “small business“, the industry’s success hinges on making manufacturing transformation available at all levels, not just to its biggest players. HOUSTEX will focus on these solutions at local and regional level. “
Keynote speakers at HOUSTEX 2021
Main speaker at HOUSTEX Chris kuehl, PhD, Managing Director, Armada Corporate Intelligence. In his remarks, “Shifting into High Gear: The Post-Recession World,†he will explain how the post-recession rebound has generated a lot of excitement in the manufacturing sector, but also several ramp-up issues in various areas. It asks a key question: Can the supply chain issues encountered in the aftermath of the pandemic be positively channeled to further stimulate offshoring and relocation?
Stephane Biller, PhD, CEO and President of Advanced Manufacturing International Inc. (AMI), begins on day two with the theme “Smart Manufacturing: Critical for Small and Medium Manufacturers, Essential for Large Manufacturers to Supportâ€. In his remarks, Dr Biller will explain the impact of smart manufacturing on productivity, responsiveness and resilience and why they are crucial for SMMs to adopt. He will complement his remarks with a discussion on the impact of artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud and 5G on the digital transformation of all manufacturers.
The third day begins with Kenneth sullivan, PhD, President and CEO, Micro Craft Inc., asking, “How can your organization survive in a post-COVID-19 world?” Dr. Sullivan will discuss the internal changes needed to bypass changes in external customers and the supply chain, the adjustments to the current culture needed to adapt, the organizational structure needed for the “new normal”, how to pivot basic skills to other markets without loss of customers or exit strategies for different scenarios.
The roundtable focuses on digital transformation strategies
HOUSTEX 2021 will also feature a panel discussion titled ‘Digital Transformation for Small and Large Manufacturers: Factory Optimization’, which will discuss smart digital technologies that accelerate outcomes and present practical solutions on how and why to integrate operational technology into using real time. data enables the speed and agility to protect customers and a company’s bottom line.
Integrated Solution Center Demonstrates Low Cost Transformation Option
To demonstrate a practical and inexpensive implementation of digital transformation for small and medium-sized manufacturers, Willig said that HOUSTEX will include an integrated solutions center, demonstrating a $ 3,000 option that begins to integrate intelligent manufacturing technologies into existing manufacturing operations. At HOUSTEX, it will be clear that digital transformation is not only a competitive minimum over the next decade, both for big business and mom-and-pop stores, but also that it is neither financially or technologically out of reach for the SMM manufacturing base, he added.
